Coolsville 03:57
Stillwall facing, an ill-kept back yard A Flytrap lily, grumpy with hunger Prayers to ward off the headless specter Van stuttering at night, like film stuck in a projector And Scoob, ScoooOOoOOOOooOOb

 Spooky Spacecraft, passing loudly overhead
Abandoned airport, striking with fear Two big clues, a recorder and projector, Maniacal laughter, coming down here And Scoob, Scooby Dooby Doo There is no monster There is no phantom Velma’s plan, we can fall back on The ghost so far, can not be chased
There is no flashlight, anybody can turn on There are trapdoors, in the floor What did I come down here for?
Scoob
ScooooOoOoOOooob

The black knight rolls in from London The black knight rolls in from London In the back of a truck, abandoned off the interstate When Scooby and Shaggy stroll in, When Scooby and Shaggy stroll in They see the armor sit, in the Driver’s seat And they fright and they flee
When the helmet falls off, they leave, in the full moons gleen
And the gang comes to see,
“Deliver to the county museum” It’s the late-night spooky hour Fred, he drops the cargo on the curb Freddy drops the cargo on the curb And the black knight peers Like a killer in the cargo And when Scooby finds a clue in the museum, Yeah when Scooby finds clue at the museum They keep up the good fight And sneak back in at night And they search, for clues And there’s a stomach turning shift, In the way those eyes move And they run, and hide, In a museum struggling with staff, In the late-night spooky hour, yeah

They got you We’ve got whoever’s left of us to get This island mansion is so haunted, No one’s found a safe way to live yet We all inherit money Whoever stays the night But Creeps and Crawls Fill us up with fright On Haunted Plantation Isle Where at night the ghosts float like balloons across the sky Where did Cousin Simple go? Where is Sweet Maldahyde? All night long They’re terror’ed and flee Those Green Ghosts, Threatening to see Velma FEED’s the organ Which opens up the floor We creep on down the stairs To the underground morgue On Haunted Plantation Isle Where the dead aren’t really dead All the cousins had left While we captured suspicious men Lalalalalalala

I hope our crew of groovy friends Don’t give up on trying to save us I hope Fred comes up with a fail-safe trap To capture the crook who has caged us I hope the monsters we fought off Have masks on over their face, And I hope we get to take them off I hope it’s not all too late And I hope our van parked a few blocks from here Stops breaking down
And I hope that the tires we fill, carry us all away And we never come back to this house again And in my life, I hope you die I’ll tell everyone you were a good fright And I hope I live
I hope we both live I hope I can get us out of this trap I hope we’re not stuck all day long
Our friends say “there’s no monsters,”
We’re pretty sure that they’re wrong I hope it stays lit forever, I hope that the worst is over And I hope it breaks before I do,
I hope I never get sober And I hope when I think of you years down the line
I can’t find one good thing to say,
And I hope that if I found the keys to walk out
Monsters stay the hell out of our way
 I am trapped here
There is no sign of friends You are stuck down here with me
 Paw in lovable hand
And I hope we live I hope we both live

about

This silly little EP is a Scooby-Doo themed reimagining of songs from The Mountain Goats album Tallahassee.

I originally planned to rewrite the whole album, but that was too ambitious and well beyond my attention span. Here are the songs I managed to finish... more or less.

This project is dedicated to Ash Machado. Rest in peace, brother. You are very missed. You are very loved.
